Gear Review – The Impulse LED Multi Task Light

Let’s face it, I’m a flashlight freak.  I have dozens of them, and all but one of them are stored away somewhere in my house.  I run across them all the time, in a drawer, in a box, under my bed, in the garage, and maybe even one or two in my van.  I have really big ones, green ones with Army camo colors, cheap ones, expensive ones, and lots that don’t fit a description.  I even have one I can wind up and charge a capacitor, thereby not use batteries.  Well, I simply never use them.

What I do use is the Princeton Tec Impulse LED Multi Task Light, whew what a name, but I gotta tell you this is the perfect flashlight.

To start with it’s small.  That is why I like it most.  And, it has a neat snap that allows me to clip it to my pants, my travel vest, my camera bag, or whatever is handy.  It comes with a clip that allows one to affix to a hat, nice when your hands are occupied with camera gear, coffee, and a tripod all at once.

And did I mention that it is the brightest flashlight I own.  I can’t believe how it lights up an area.  For such a small little beast, it has an enormous range.  It will light up my backyard nothing flat.  And, one can change out the batteries quite easily.  It will last about 30 hours of continous use.  And it has a neat way of blinking, like when you are in a boat and out of gas, and want to call attention to somebody who might tow you home.  Or when you are in Tanzania walking back from the main tent to your lodging tent and there are Leopards, Cape Buffalo, and maybe a Lion around, course all I saw was some Impala that were upset with me for disturbing their sleep.

It comes with different color LEDs but I prefer the white one.  Did I say it was bright!

It costs around $15 depending on where you buy it.

I give it a PTR Award of five stars, actually more than that, it’s the perfect flashlight.
