PTR Seminar Slovenia
Slovenia. 25th October – 1st November 2008
Join us on a photography tour of the Julian Alps and the famous Lakes of Bled and Bohinj at a time when the autumn colours should be peaking. Whether a beginner or advanced photographer you will find this area has plenty to inspire you. Having a local guide in our party will enable us to access places most tourists never find.

Guides: Claire Carter and Bill Lockhart from PTR and local photographer Herman Cater (see his PTR article on Siberia).
Cost - £690 per person (excluding airfare) to include accommodation, food, tuition and all internal travel to locations.
Guests arriving by air will be met at Ljubljana airport on Saturday 25th and driven to our self-catering accommodation near Lake Bled. The evening will be spent familiarising guests with the area, looking at maps and talking about what each person wants to get from the trip. Herman (our local guide and photographer) will give a presentation that will give everyone a taste of what is to come.
See the PTR articles on the Julian Alps and Slovenia in spring to get a taste of the region.

Each day (weather permitting) we will plan to be out each morning to catch dawn, we will generally return to the accommodation at some point during the day. We will set off for a second location for the late afternoon and evening light, returning to the cottage after dark. An average level of fitness is required but we won’t be doing any long treks, the days will be long though to make the most of the light and this requires some stamina. Of course, if guests want a “day off” they are welcome to do so.
Winter, mountain clothing will be essential.
Camera gear – this tour is aimed at landscape photography and a wide-angle lens is recommended as well as a mid-length zoom. A tripod is essential and ND grads recommended. There may be opportunities for macro photography and we will be visiting villages, waterfalls and churches. You’ll need a decent backpack for your gear, extra clothing and fluids. We will have at least two laptops guests can use but it is recommended you have plenty of spare cards if you are using digital cameras and a way of backing up your images.
